27M. First time posting. Done a decent amount of hair research on my own, as I started thinning in my teens, but limited in-depth research in this community.
Have used minoxidil on and off for 10 years with minimal results. Mostly have gone on and off on fighting my bald destiny and accepting what god gave me. Two separate times, years apart, i have tried using the oral finasteride, and had immediate side effects. Both times decided Id prefer to be bald than fuck with my testosterone/erectile performance, followed by an extended period of giving up all efforts to fight the balding. Not willing to forfeit my soldier for a head of hair, even if the risks are only present for a small portion of people.
I have seen randomly on socials this new product called clascoterone, which is still in phase 3 and not fda approved as of now. Really surprised with all of the peptides developments over the last few years that hair loss treatments have not seen more progress. I want to start up the good fight again and see if I can get some hair on my head. What recommendations do you guys have for someone who will not do fin (or any systemic dht blockers)?? Is clascoterone available anywhere online? Am i better off just waiting and hoping for more developments? I dont know of anything that anyone has used that has shown substantial results other than the systemic dht blockers. Just looking to see if there’s any less impactful options I should give a shot, open to recommendations.
clascoterone is not FDA approved for hair loss. if you source its raw material from a source, either send it to a real lab to get it tested for purity or stay away from it entirely. if you wait you risk further thinning. Testosterone doesn’t really get nuked by 5AR inhibitors also, DHT gets, though DHT also plays some role post-puberty in genital tissues so yeah you may have sides nevertheless. But for the moment cb-03-01 is not available for hair loss, I am afraid. Also, you cannot prepare a topical for cb-03-01 like a hydroalcoholic solution but you need to turn it into a cream, something I would say a compounding pharmacy would be better at though you would need a prescription and I don’t think any doctor would give it when it is not approved for hair loss, off-label as winlevi perhaps otherwise I don’t know. Maybe look like that route, perhaps you may get it done to a compounding pharmacy at 5% maybe not, again I don’t know probably not. Discuss its safety, legality etc. with a doctor.
Meanwhile pyrilutamide is available as an OTC product on amazon. Perhaps discuss with a doctor using pyrilutamide? Again I don’t recommend it because it is a drug even if available OTC.
RU58841 is very potent from what I had heard but again is dangerous imho. I would not touch that thing honestly, so that is why I say pyri but pyri seems weak per online anecdotes and studies.
Also, low dose topical finasteride is a thing. Discuss with a doctor if possible. Discuss with a doctor 0.005% to 0.01%. So is microdosing finasteride eg. 0.25mg every other day.
