26M with questions about switching from a fin+min blend to dut and min separately

Hi everyone!

I am 26M, maybe a bit past norwood 2? I have been on the Hims chewable blend with 3 mgs of min and 1.1 mgs of fin for about a year and a half. I think there’s been stabilization, and maybe a little regrowth, but I have been noticing an increase in shedding recently.

I am considering going on 0.5 mgs of dut, potentially using Dr. B and Amazon RxPass. This would mean that I would need to get the min separately. The most accessible oral dose seems to be 2.5 mgs, .5 mgs lower than what I am currently on. I am tempted to go on a topical min solution at .5% and use ketoconazole shampoo for the potential dryness.

From what I understand, on average, there isn’t much difference between oral and topical in terms of results, but I am worried about lowering the min all together. Will .5 mgs make a big difference in your experience? How annoying is topical min? What has the transition from fin to dut been like for you? Also any tips on sourcing would be great!

Thank you all so much!

Switching from fin to dut can be a good option if you’re looking for stronger effects; however, keep in mind that 0.5 mg of dut has a different inhibition profile compared to fin. Reducing min from 3 mg to 0.5 mg might impact results, as oral min is generally more potent than topical. Just monitor your response and adjust if needed. Ketoconazole shampoo can help with any dryness or irritation and could support against shedding. For sourcing, check telehealth options like Dr. B, Amazon RxPass, or local pharmacies.
