26M: Concerned About Minoxidil Dependency After Starting Treatment

I started finasteride and minoxidil today and came to this sub and mainly saw underwhelming 2 year progression and many horror story’s.

Many people saying they started and after 8 months, no progression. Then when they finally quit after 8 months they lost much of their HEALTHY hair because it became dependent on minoxidil.

I just wanna keep the hair I already have. I’m 26 and I’m not sure if I’m really losing my hair or just have a mature hairline. I applied some minoxidil to my temples today (day 1 for both meds) and started freaking out over the middle of my hairline which is perfectly healthy ( more of a wide U shape than a V pattern). I think I’ll just stick with finasteride only.

Any advice? Also, my post keeps getting taken down when I ask about this!! Making me angry.

if you’re worried about min dependency, just sticking with fin might be a good call, as it’s effective for keeping your existing hair. fin prevents further miniaturization of hair follicles caused by DHT. if you try min, stay consistent for results; stopping min can lead to shedding back to baseline. keep an eye on your hair health and give treatments time, sometimes up to a year for visible changes.
