Picture 1 is when I first noticed my thinning in 2021, jumped on Fin/Min/Keto and within one year I reached picture 2.
After two years in August 2023, switched from 1mg Fin to 5mg cut up into 4 (1.25mg) and the great results maintained for another year.
Then out of no where between September 2024 to November 2024 all my progress shed off and back to square one (picture 3). During this period I was under a lot of exam and work stress, but also had been at similar levels of stress in previous years and nothing happened then.
Now it is has been over a year since the shed, and it has not grown back (picture 4) despite being perfect with Fin/Min/Keto compliance, great diet, consistent working out, multivitamins, 8hr12min average sleep for the enture year. I have, however, noticed a lot of dandruff.
Two weeks ago I shaved my head because the thinning looked so bad, after a week I stopped taking minoxidil and the dandruff has disappeared. I’m still taking finasteride and hoping I might get some regrowth as the lack of growth may have been due to poor scalp health? Anyone have any advice.
I am afraid that you may need to see a dermatologist. Your case seems a bit strange. If finasteride does not work though you may need dutasteride, though always under the prescription of a doctor as I am not a doctor and cannot recommend any medicines. I am so sorry what happened to you, from full head of hair. But i don’t think it is finasteride that stopped working, I would say probably it is minoxidil that stopped workingl If you had ended up shedding all the hair that had been regrown with minoxidil. This is just what I think, you would need probably a proper dermatologist’s assessment. Normally, I know a bit about hair loss and can help people, but your case seems a bit too much and I don’t want to misinform you. My verdict, though take it with a grain of salt+visit a proper dermatologist, that minoxidil might have stopped working. Get your follicular SULT1A1 levels checked if possible, SULT1A1 is the enzyme that converts the minoxidil to its active form, where it becomes of use to the body (which allows it to open KATP channels and exert its effect on hair).
