23M: Starting Finasteride After 4 Months on Minoxidil

hi guys. is this a good plan? i am 23

A) i want to look good after 3 to 6 months

and B) i want to assess minoxidil effectiveness for me, since i want to get away with the least drugs possible. I have 1 cm of recession on my temple corner. which is not a lot.

The plan:

4 months of Minoxidil only - I am 1 month in and i feel decent shedding

4 months in i want to add finastride 0.5mg/day - since i am leaving the country and the other country needs prescriptions for fin i will have to get my fin here and fly with it to start it there and i do not want to take a lot with me in case they get confiscated. i might even start fin at 5 months so that they last me until i get back

this way i can tell if minoxidil is helping or not by taking progress photos that are mainly because of minoxidil at 6 months of minoxidil while the finastride lag phase is happening. Maybe if Minoxdil is not doing much in 6 months i would just stop it all together and go on finastride. and if finastride is not helping the regression i would try something else after a year.

should i change anything?

your plan to start with min and then add fin later could help you see how each works. keep in mind fin can take a while to show results due to hair cycles. taking progress pics is smart for tracking changes. if min isn’t helping by 6 months, switching could make sense when you add fin. just remember you might see some shedding as a normal response when changing treatments.

Add finasteride ASAP, whatever finasteride you take will help you long term even if you stop taking it for 3 months after, the longer you are on finasteride the better for your hair
