22M Seeking Advice on Hairline Recession; Stopped Finasteride Due to Side Effects

For some contexts I’m losing my hair😂. I’m 22 and I noticed it start when I was 16, I’ll post some photos on this so people can see but the lines are where my hairline used to set more or less. I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out what I can do to save my hair as much as I can. I started finasteride pills and minoxidil foam, also found out I have a pretty bad vitamin D deficiency so my doc has me on 50,000 units a week. I had to stop finasteride due to some pretty nasty side effects🥲. And the worse part was it was actully helping a lot. Will also post how it looked when I started finasteride and when I had to stop! I’d just like some advice on what to do really, if I can save it, if I’m a lost cause and should just shave it. I love my hair it’s really long and I’ve been growing it out for years. It tends to be able to hid it pretty well but it’s getting to a point where I won’t be able to hide it much longer. I’ll also say it’s really just my hairline I haven’t noticed anything on the crown yet so. Thank you all so much for your help and hope you all have amazing days!!!

You’ve got a pretty common situation here with AGA, starting early. If fin was too much, consider trying topical fin or dut to see if side effects are lessened. Oral min is also a potent alternative. Combine that with ketoconazole shampoo and maybe microneedling for better absorption of min. Keep an eye on hair health with Vitamin D (still important!). Stick with it, adjustments can take months to show results. If you’re thinking of buzzing, short hair with ongoing treatment can be a solid move.
