22M Experiencing Hairline Recession on Oral Fin After 18 Months - Advice?

[22M] Losing ground on oral fin? Progress pics from 1 year topical fin+min and then 6 additional months oral fin+topical min. Need some advice/help

I started all of this 18 months ago. My dermatologist prescribed a topical solution of 0.1% finasteride and 7% minoxidil to be applied once daily.

After a year I had stabilization (no regrowth but no recession at all). I was switched to 1mg oral fin for cost efficiency reasons with my derm recommending topical min 5% foam (Rogaine) and applying this twice daily.

It has been 6 months using oral fin with the topical min and honestly my hairline seems to be getting worse. My left temple in particular seems to be receding upward into the corner which I did not see at all using topical fin.

Should I go back and switch/add topical fin or consider dut 0.5mg? I never had any loss like this on the topical fin and I am worried it’s not a shed after 6 months. Any advice or help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Switching to oral fin seems to have changed your DHT suppression, possibly affecting your temples. Consider going back to topical fin, especially if it previously stabilized the recession. Trying the 0.5mg dose of oral dutasteride might be an option too, as it’s more potent. Keep in mind, temple areas are tough to treat. Check out The Beginner’s Guide for more insights.
