21 M, After avoiding visiting a dermatologist for a long time now, I finally decided to have a consultation. My hair has been thinning gradually for the last 2-3 years but nothing significant and I still have a good set of hair with some balding in the temple area. I’d put it like 2-2.5 on the norwood scale.
But have been facing excess shedding for the past 2 weeks and decided to go to the doc. He took a look and immediately said AGA and then prescribed me a 5%min+ 0.1% fin topical solution (1ml twice a day), multivitamin tablets and 0.5mg dutasteride daily.
I wanna start fixing this issue at the earliest.
Is this prescription normal?
Yeah, it’s pretty normal. That combo of topical min and fin with oral dutasteride is used to target AGA by reducing DHT and encouraging hair growth. Starting with this aggressive treatment can give you a good shot at maintaining and possibly regrowing some hair. Keep using it consistently and monitor your response over time to see how it works for you.
