20M don’t know where to start or where to buy

Hi there Im 20 and I started to notice my hair thinning when I was around 18 I didn’t take much notice till it started to show more and people where telling me about it so my question is where is the best place for me to start

And would I be able to regrow any of the spots and then maintain it

1)You should not ask this question here, go consult a proper licensed and experienced male dermatologist with a bit of hairloss (nw2.5-3) and then ask him to examine your scalp with special devices (they have those devices, if they don’t then find somebody who has it or order them yourself from a reputable online market.) that can see your hair at a microscopic or near-microscopic level. If hair miniaturization is detected, then you very likely have something known as AGA or better known as male pattern baldness or simply that you will go bald without treatments. If no hair miniaturization is found, then it likely is due to something else. Now, TE may also cause hair miniaturization too but TE does usually NOT progress over time. It follows a dynamic pattern, hair may be lost and REGAINED (impossible for AGA without medical treatments) not a clear linear-like progression pattern. Dermatologists probably know how to diagnose you better, refer to them in that case.

2)Yes you would probably be able to regrow back your hair through medications (if it is AGA) or by fixing your nutritional deficincies (if it is due to that). If some other reason eg. alopecia areta incognita is found then other treatments may be necessary eg. stereoids.

3)Fix your vitamin levels and eliminate all nutritional deficincies, these won’t do much for AGA (which I assume is your case) but maybe they may help nevertheless.

4)Do NOT underestimate norwood reaper. DO NOT believe that balding ends and you get to keep what you have or it even gets better over time. There is a SIGNIFICANT CHANCE that you will go bald in your mid 20s at that pace. DO NOT do the mistake I did back in the day, fight the norwood reaper and never underestimate his capabilities.
Important: Please create posts here after making a proper diagnosis, only then our experience should be of concern to you. There is no formal proof you have even AGA, your pattern seems to be mixed with diffuse+crown thinning if it is AGA. Hamilton-Norwood classification canNOT apply to your case.

Hair is NOT the same as the hair follicle. Follicle is like a small cavity/structure inside which hair grows. DHT, the primary causor of balding in men miniaturizes hair follicles which in turn results in the creation of finer and weaker hairs. Vellus-like hairs remain eventually on the top part of scalp and terminal hairs fade away, at that point you become bald. If my response was of benefit to you, please like it or comment it so I can see by the way. Thanks.

Hi there thanks for the reply I’ve booked a gp appointment see what they say and then get a referral to a dermatologist

For me I think it maybe genetics because my fathers bald my older brother is balding and my 2/3 uncles and great and great great grandparents were too so I think that’s a factor also I’ve been stressed and eating unhealthy for about a year and a half only just made a change so seeing if that’s a factor

I’m just seeing what I should by incase it is AGA or any deficiencies but I think it mainly might be aga hence why I’m seeing what the best things are to buy for regrowth and thicker hair n to maintain it

Also what did you mean by fighting the norwood reaper as in you didn’t do anything to look after hair etc?

what I mean by not having fought the norwood reaper is that, (long story short) I did not fight the norwood reaper in the sense by believing that my situation had stabilized. boy I was so wrong and it got worse. it remains to be seen whether I can defeat this monster at this advanced stage as 60-70 % percent of my hair has evaporated within the past 3 years. do NOT do the mistake I had done. Also I had better hair than basically 90% of the population before the hairfall began. I could grow a literal rainforest. Do NOT believe that just because you had good hair in the past/you have good hair right now you will have it in the future!

I see thank you again is there anything you recommend to buy if it is aga just want to be on the safe side and be prepped incase it is try stop the reaper before it gets bad

Check out The Beginner’s Guide

Do you think hims like min and fin chewable is worth getting or look for other options

This is some extra photos I forgot to post I’m getting my blood work done to see if it’s any deficiency which I know I have since I have been unhealthy n was definitely not getting enough nutrients but still not ruling out aga etc and one picture is where I push my hair all the way up compared to the other one which is just all my hairs being down

I am by no means a dermatologist or a medical specialist. However ask these questions to yourself. 1)Is there anybody who is bald or with male-pattern-baldness related hair loss (androgenetic alopecia type not telogen efflivium) in your family below the age of 35. 2)Is there any hair loss in the back of your scalp (eg. occipital area). 3)Is the situation progressing (yes) or (no) instead manifests in a wave-like pattern. If your answer to these 3 questions are yes-no-yes then you my friend have likely AGA unfortunately. Though judging from the pictures you are probably a diffuse thinner and from anecdotal experiences of various people it is easier to treat. Though I will always recommend you to check in with a qualified dermatologist, stay safe

Have booked dermatologist probably one reason will be nutritional deficiency as I definitely am probably heavily deficient

Also what’s the best things to cure diffuse thinning and can diffuse thinning lead to pure baldness?

Q:What is the best things to cure diffuse thinning and can diffuse thinning lead to pure baldness?
A:We gotta make a distinction my man  Do you mean DUPA or AGA-induced Diffuse Thinning. Because both of them involve diffuse thinning of scalp hair, albeit with 1 crucial difference. In the back of scalp (at least in the first stages) there is almost ZERO thinning in AGA-induced diffuse thinning. Now diffuse thinning if induced by AGA can DEFINITELY lead to total baldness especially when it begins at a young age. I have diffuse thinning for context and while I have no norwood rating as in the norwood-hamilton scale envisions, I nevertheless have lost about 1/2 to 2/3 of my top scalp hair. I have thinned in vertex, regions that correspond to parietal and frontal lobes on the scalp but for instance my occputial region is as thick as it was before AGA. If back of your scalp appears as dense as it was in childhood or before this hairfall, then I am afraid it is indeed AGA or otherwise known as male-pattern-balding or just balding in the usual sense.

Q:What is the best things to cure diffuse thinning?
A:There is NO cure for baldness. I repeat again NONE!. Only treatments that have to be used for the duration of one’s lifetime. As noted above, treatment of DUPA vs AGA is NOT the same. If it is due to AGA then you will need at the very minimum a steroid 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor. Or in layman terms, you would need a medicine that will block the conversion of testesterone to DHT, which (DHT) is the hormone that causes hair loss in men whose hair follicles are sensitive to it. Finasteride typically is a solid choice, as it inhibits steroid 5-alpha-reductase Type II, Serum levels of DHT drops by about 70% and DHT that makes its way to hair follicle^ is reduced to a similar extent. Scalp DHT is reduced only 40% but this is of smaller importance as not all DHT produced on scalp makes its way to hair follicles. Now, in addition to the Finasteride a medicine with the active ingredient of “Minoxidil” is typically needed if you had lost some ground because “Minoxidil” is mainly a vasodilator BUT secondly and more importantly also a potassium channel opener (kir6.1 and sur2b) that prolongs the anagen phase and shortens the telogen phase, it in essence acts is in total contradiction to the way through which DHT affects hair follicles. If DHT shrinks hair follicles, the minoxidil thus grows them. You get your hair back, if you respond to the treatment. Finasteride’s typical dose is 1mg, For minoxidil in its oral form it is 2.5mg-5mg for men and in topical form 5%. Oral minoxidil is said to be metabolized by the liver and there are some studies in which people with low response to enzyme required for converting minoxidil to its active form (minoxidil sulfate) respond BETTER to LDOM (oral minoxidil).

^The reduction of DHT that makes its way to hair follicle is based upon a single Japanese study that I linked in my profile so you can find it there, however I personally trust it.

Thanks going to doctors tomorrow then get a derm referal to see how it goes i just know my defiency will play some part as im overweight for my height with a very bad diet and i barley go outside until recently for the gym so im going to assume its one part of my thinning as it looks more like diffuse thinning across my whole head but hairline has been fine

get a mirror and check your back scalp, or perhaps take a photo. if there is NO thinning on the back of the scalp, you may as well be f… like me and be suffering from diffuse thinning like I am.

ps:Also being overweight MAY increase your chance of having side effects due to testesterone/estrogen imbalance thus compliacte treatment process indirectly. Get that fixed up asap, whether you are doing cardio, lifting weights, walking, get in shape. Going to outside is NOT of much importance (albeit physical activity is), but a very bad diet though may be. As the usual advice goes, create a calorie deficit but if possible add protein+resistance training too, this way you will lose less muscle, as burning calories will also burn muscles too to an extent. If you are on vit d3 and live in a rural area with proper ventilation (eg trees/plants etc nearby, plenty of o2), I do NOT necessarily think that you have to go outside every day for that matter. In fact some cities I dobut may have a poorer air quality than that of your room, if close to industrial areas so sitting inside may be better if you can create a system where you can artificially increase o2 and pump out the dust, co2 etc..

I have checked the back of my head but from when i can see i see thinning start near the left side of the back of my head instead of middle could be lighting or hair cut but no clut but it goes go up and left then up kinda like a reverse S but weird not on any Vit D right now all i know is im defo deficent diet is in shambles aka fast food alot until recently and i barley go outside for sun and uk barley gets sun

Like i see thinning everywhere mainly on the middle left but under harsh light i see some in the middle and some on right side

blur your face and post AT LEAST THREE pictures of your head. one for left and one for the right side and finally one for the back of your head. there are already top and frontal pictures so I don’t need them. by the way I am the same age as you, yeah this shit can happen young.

back photo is in the sun and othet two are with flash from phone

The last photo is my left side where it looks bad in flash

I honestly don’t know, you seem to be thinning on crown and on front but back seems strong from the photos , this suggests a classic diffuse thinning type AGA. but, a very important but, THERE IS ALSO THINNING ON SIDES AND ON THE BACK IN A SPEARHEAD PATTERN! this does NOT make sense  If possible can you A)go see a proper dermatologist B)Perhaps you could post another picture of back of your scalp if possible taken by somebody else?

Honest don’t know if it’s cause of nutritional deficiency or aga or stress or all 3 combined cause I’ve been stressed for a while especially last 2 years with bad break up and family members passing away
