20M Diffuse Thinning for 2 Years, No Improvement with Treatments

I’m 20M and have been noticing diffuse thinning for about 2 years now. I didn’t do anything for the first year, but around 9 months ago I started trying treatments.

First I used topical 5% minoxidil for 4 months, then switched to the topical fin + min from Hims for another 5 months. Despite all that, it’s just been getting worse. I’ve now hopped on 1mg oral finasteride and still use stemoxydine, pyrilutimide and other things trying to fight it but I can’t tell if anything is helping. I am very very consistent with everything. I can maybe say if treatment doesnt start to work i have like a few months until my thinning is really noticable.

Right before I started fin, I also went through a breakup, and looking back, it was probably a bad time to start it. My mental state wasn’t great, and it’s hard to tell what’s caused what, especially since I’ve had some side effects which did start before fin. I’m not really scared of fin or trying different treatments, and I can deal with a few side effects, but it honestly feels like I’m getting screwed from both sides.

I’m not sure if i should continue to push through any sides or lower the dosage, because i just started oral. I could also switch treatments to something stronger but that also seems hasty. I just want to act quickly to try save as much as possible.

I mostly just needed to vent, but if anyone has been through something similar or has any advice on what actually helped them push through (mentally or treatment-wise), I’d really appreciate hearing it. This whole process has been rough, sorry if this comes across as rambling.

Just know that oral fin will work and you will thank yourself later. Keep fin and minox and forget about your hair and in 1 to 2 years you’ll be good
