After a stressful time in my life at 16 that lasted months, I developed seb derm and diffuse hair shedding at the same time. An unusual amount of hair would be stuck to my hands after every shower which was never normal for me. Ive tried Nizoral (ketoconazole) and all other types of remedies, and nothing works. I’m 19 now and have been on finasteride for 6 months, and hairloss is only getting worse, seb derm is just as severe. For more context, I had seb derm before without hair loss between 11-14, which was completely cleared with Nizoral once a month, but it is now ineffective. My hairline has mostly been left intact, and I’ve noticed the most thinning on the sides of my head and right behind my hairline. Finasteride has been no help. I’m scheduled for a derm visit in 2 months. Why might have stressed triggered a reaction like this. Anything OTC I could use or anything I could tell my derm about?
Stress can trigger hair shedding and worsen seb derm. Fin won’t help much with inflammation, but keep using Nizoral. Maybe try CBD with MCT oil for relief. Discuss telogen effluvium with your derm, as stress could be causing extra shedding.
