I started to take finasteride last week 0.5mg EoD. So far I have no side effects, wasn’t expecting it either considering how early I am in the process but that also means it’s not to late to quit. I’ve heard all these horror stories on reddit as well as many positive things about finasteride and wanted to get people’s honest opinion (no bs) about the actually side effects and what to do.
And considering I’m 19 yr old would it be smarter to switch to once or twice a week instead of EoD? My hair used to be very thick and generally grew back very fast so I’m assuming that’s my natural hair growth pattern would resume after treatement so it’s fine if I hop on a low dosage but correct me if I’m wrong.
Tell me your norwood-hamilton/ludwig scale or post a photo of your scalp if you are a diffuse thinner and then we can figure it out. Finasteride is typically a good choice for most men as DHT after puberty is mostly useless and even harmful more than beneficial to the body, eg acne through sebum overproduction or accelerating skin aging or driving male pattern baldness. I would suggest you to go see a dermatologist nevertheless for any medicine that you take, this is not a medical advice. If I was 19 and had no hair loss or no loss of elasticity on my skin, I would not have hopped on finasteride or dutasteride though. I would have had done it at 23-25, but not at 19. Not because you are not mature yet, you most probably are to the extent using fin won’t do harm but I would err on the side of caution.
