18M Noticing Thinning Crown, Family History: Is This Early Balding?

Hey guys,

I’m 18 and I’ve been noticing my hair thinning on top for a while. Took this photo this morning in natural light. The crown is clearly visible in the middle of the swirl and a lot of the hair around it has become very thin.

I do have a family history on my father’s side ( even though there were thining in the 40s 50s ).

I’m honestly pretty worried because 18 feels really young for this.

What Norwood scale would you rate this?

I’ve been on min 5% only for two weeks
Can I get my hairline back if I add fin?

Yeah, based on your pics, it does look like you might be seeing early signs of AGA with thinning at the crown and a bit of recession. You’re on min, which is great; stick with it for a few months to see results. Adding fin could help block DHT and maintain or possibly regrow some hair.
