16-Year-Old Considering Minoxidil for Temple and Crown Hair Loss Without Fin

Despite being 16 I have some hair loss at the temples and the crown area and it’s making me exteremely insecure. I make sure that my hair covers all of my bald spots which became unbearable real quick. At first, I thought using it right now wouldn’t make a difference but after reading some of the posts in this subreddit I realized there might be a possibility of it backfiring since I won’t be taking fin with it due to being under 18 and doctors here probably don’t have it because I live in a middle-income country. Fortunately, they sell 5% tropical minoxidil online. So I won’t have a problem with using it consistently.

So, do you guys think it can backfire if I don’t take fin alongside minoxidil or should I just start using it and when I hit 18 I can start using fin as well. (If I can find one online that is)

You can start using topical minoxidil at 16 to help with temple and crown thinning. It’s mainly a method to promote growth by improving blood flow. Since fin is generally recommended for those over 18, starting minoxidil alone is fine for now. Keep using it consistently, and consider adding fin when you turn 18 if necessary. For now, monitor progress and adjust if needed.
